Allow me to play devil's advocate...

nonsense, the fed is reactive not proactive, the market prices in rate drops or rate hikes in bond prices and fed bond futures well before the fact.
all the skinny that you need for information on the economy is in the 10 and 30 year bond charts, first and then the spx charts.


What you say is true if the markets are being given correct information.

Are the markets being given correct CPI PPI information? Are the markets being given correct employment numbers (initial reports revised downwards last six months), etc etc. Are the markets analytic systems functioning correctly if, perhaps, the data input AND the systems parameter assumptions of risk (RE LTCM) are incorrect??
