I just watched B. Williams on MSNBC. He had on his program a Palestinian, R. Ramullah, I think he is a Palestinian representative to DC and Dore Gold, an advisor to Sharon.

What followed I think was classic. Williams asked Gold a question which I am not sure he answered but he went into this long dialogue in which he said that Israel is complying with Bush's demand to withdraw from the West Bank. He said Mr. Bush understands these things take time.....maybe 7 weeks and that Mr. Bush wants Israel to start the withdrawal process but expects Israel to finish the process when Israel thinks its done the job of eliminating the terrorist organization and its infrastructure. Again this was all part of a much larger commentary on the part of Gold.

Then Williams asked Ramullah what did he think was the reason for the suicide bombings stopping in the last few days. It was clear that Ramullah was pissed and was not listening to Wiliams. He went on this rant complaining about how Israel was treating the Palestinians, asking why Israel will not let them bury their dead etc. Obviously this was not responding to Williams's question so Williams interrupted Ramullah to ask him the question once more. Ramullah grew more angry....he asked why did Williams interrupt him when he did not answer the question but did not interrupt Gold when he did not answer the question Williams asked of him. Obviously, he was very insulted.

Williams withdrew and Ramullah continued, making several heated statements and never answering the question in front of him. Then Gold started to rebut....clearly now he was pissed.......at some point he said that Ramullah was out of line calling the West Bank a Palestinian territory; that it [the West Bank] is one of the disputed territories and Israel has every right to be there to defend its well being. It was not the best response to have made and I don't think he would have made it that way had not Ramullah pissed him off.

As I said, the whole exchange was classic. For those who get cable, its worth catching.
