I think I largely agree with your general argument but just a clarification on the Sudeten Germans: Even almost 60 years later there's still some "resentment" (hatred would probable be too strong a word) among group representing them. E.g. our chancellor cancelled a visit to Czech(sp?) because their president made some strange remarks about the Sudeten Germans (something about being "Hitler's last cohort"). So this is IMO a good example that even under the best circumstances (new homes for the refugees, booming economy etc.) it takes a long time until things normalize again. Unfortunately the circumstances for the Palestinians were extremely bad throughout the last 50 years and I don't think they can be blamed alone of that.
