NewKidCo Earns Prestigious Parents' Choice Award
Nation's Oldest Authority on Children's Media Bestows Silver Honor on ``Sesame Street Sports,'' and ``E.T. Interplanetary Mission'' Wins Approved Award
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2002-- Proving once again that NewKidCo (OTCBB:NKCIF - news; TSE:NKC - news) is the leading publisher of video games for young gamers, the company announced today that ``Sesame Street Sports'' has earned a Silver Honor from the prestigious Parents' Choice Awards program. In addition, ``E.T. Interplanetary Mission'' was granted the Approved Award. The Parents' Choice Foundation received numerous entries this season; these titles were the only video games selected to receive a Parents' Choice commendation.
``We're thrilled that these two titles received the `Parents' Choice Approved Award' from this notable organization,'' stated Henry Kaplan, CEO NewKidCo. ``We know that kids love these games and this recognition helps assure parents of the quality of the NewKidCo titles.''
``Sesame Street Sports'' for the PlayStation® game console and Game Boy® Color is an exciting opportunity for younger children to interact with their favorite Sesame Street pals including Elmo, Cookie Monster, Ernie, Grover, Telly and Zoe. Voiced by the original Sesame Street cast, players can choose from six different sporting events including steering Grover on his unicycle, shooting the rapids with Ernie in his bathtub, racing with Zoe on her Big Wheel, slipping and sliding with Telly on his downhill snow saucer, bouncing with Cookie Monster on his giant red ball and guiding Elmo through town on his in-line skates.
``E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: Interplanetary Mission'' for the PlayStation® game console is an action/adventure odyssey that takes E.T. to numerous alien planets to search for rare and exotic plant specimens with a truly cosmic goal: saving the planets from extinction! Join E.T. on his travels to mystifying yet beautiful planets, such as Botanicus (the Green Planet), Astrila (the Ice Planet), Barreine (the Desert Planet), Sclavus (Planet Metropolis) and, yes, even Earth.
The Parents' Choice Awards designation recognizes products that meet and exceed standards set by educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents, and yes, kids. The Parents' Choice Awards Committees seek out and recommend products that help kids grow -- imaginatively, physically, morally and mentally -- and that are fun, safe, and socially sound.
