I'd go to the help files, index and put in troubleshoot. There should be a listing there for mouse and that may possibly lead you to a solution. If your problem isn't solved there, right-click your my computer icon and there should be a device manager tab or button (depending on your operating system. Find your mouse and right-click it. Choose remove from the drop-down menu. Reboot and you should be prompted to reinstall the software that came with the optical mouse. If this solves the problem there's no need to update to the newest driver if your mouse works the way you want it to. If you still want to give the new driver a try you will at least know how to revert to the working version.
