I think the key distinction is between short and long term options. When I said control, this means that if the stock goes up, my options will as well. Clearly, they will be discounted until they are in the money. Unfortunately, MRVC only offers 35s for 1999. If they had 30s, I would have prefered this position.

I have been extremely successful with leaps. I have had very little success with short term options. To each his own.

I think for high tech stocks with a chance for great appreciation(as most members of this thread think MRVC has), leaps are a relatively safe investment. Most of their price has to do with time.

To each his own,
I just objected to that "clown" taking such a bad attitude.

PS- My CSCO leaps are up over 100% since April, my MOT are up 250% since last november, and my MSFT are up over 800% since 1995. I think I will stick with this strategy for companies that meet a certain profile. For instance, I think ASND offers an interesting play using this strategy.
