Hi h0db; Re: "That's interesting, since the i850E boards announced by Asus, Abit, and AOpen *only* use RIMM4200, 32-bit modules, which would seem to indicate they *will* use a 533Mhz memory bus."

I don't find any PC1066 or 850E hits for ASUS or Abit, but plenty of PC800 or 850hits:

ASUS:
850: google.com
850E: google.com
PC800: google.com
PC1066: google.com

Abit:
PC800: google.com
PC1600: google.com
850: google.com
850E: google.com

With AOpen, I find no PC1066 hits:
PC800: google.com
PC1066: google.com

But I do find 850E hits:

PC850E: google.com

Unfortunately for you, all the 850E hits are all for 850MHz Pentium III boards, not boards that use i850E chipsets.

So you're probably jumping the gun a bit when you say that these motherboards have been "announced". Or do you have a link to a press release announcing these products? Do remember that tech companies make a lot of prototypes that don't go into production, so don't get your hopes too high.

And for that matter, how much volume would one of those boards make? To get PC1066 accepted as a real technology, you're going to have to get Intel to support it. But here are the facts from the Intel web site; mentions for DDRII and PC800, but PC1066 strangely absent:

DDRII: google.com
PC800: google.com
PC1066: google.com
