Z, It's actually rooted in a Jewish legend... not really historically traceable... Now, first off, if this country ever existed, it was quite small, which is why there's no historical evidence of it. I am not sure why you are trying to belittle it. The country definitely existed, there is apparently evidence of conversion to Judaism. Besides, I don't feel like the validity to the claims to the land is affected by the events much before last century As Albert posted (I can't find the link), there are other reasons for the claim to the land of Israel, being descendants of people is just one of them, and I think Albert has a valid point.
