As WSJ suggests Bush has been "clueless" as to how his administration should handle the conflict
between Sharon and Arafat with one exception: Bush had a hands off policy for approximately a year.
He pretended the problem didn't exist. His administration should have met with Sharon and
Arafat months ago. The Palestinians want their land back, the land they had prior to 67, I believe.
It is now occupied by Israel settlers. They want Israel to withdraw from their army. And Palestine
endorses the Saudi peace plan which would recognize Israel and Palestine as independent states.

Chairman Arafat is the elected representative of the Palestinian Authority. Neither Bush nor Sharon can
strip him of his title and put a puppet representative in his place which is what they want to do.

I agree with WSJ that Sharon's replacement, the "former Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu" would be
worse than Sharon.

I believe Bush is clueless because he is an ignorant man. Remember, it was Bush who thought
the Taliban was a "rock band." And when he initially spoke about a war in Afghanistan, he was not aware
that is was a land-locked nation. He thought it was open to the sea.

AFGHANISTAN: Serious problems remain. I heard a Senator who visited the region say last week
that the only stable area was Kabul. And I don't believe the US wants to shore up peace-keeping
forces. In short, Bush wants to conduct war around the world, but he doesn't want to deal with the
consequnces of war on people's lives. He isn't interested in rebuilding a nation that has been
devasted by one of his wars. He is one of the most insensitive presidents who has been elected to
office. History will judge him, accordingly.
