Dear NW: I was stunned when I read about the 150 appointment. I totally, totally agree:

"MC should have done that, not a transition committee. It smacked of politics."

I also view this as a bit of, "In your face, Walter." There was absolutely no good reason to make the announcement at that time. Should the merger now vaporize, I wouldn't want to be one of these people.

Right: "They need to move fast and exhibit sensitivity during the process. MC has a good record in this area."

The question is if Carly recognizes just how good MC is in this area. I sure hope he doesn't end up hating his job should the merger go through. Whether the good old boys (including Carly) know it or not, a successful merger *needs* MC.
