I'm not sure that announcement of a vapor product from HP is a reason to run. Perhaps someone should see just what this UNC technology amounts to. Certainly I have seen graphics stuff cut into parallel chunks and run on current SGI boxes. Speed-up is about what HP is claiming in their new box. Maybe HP decided to visit the local CS Dept and swipe some grad student's work. I'm not sure that HP will be able to get many to line up and pay $100,000 for a random homework project. Meanwhile HP has cool printers.
