Mike, gold had been in and out as a backing for paper money thru the centuries. While Europe and North American and obviously Australia are deemphasisizing gold it seems the Far East is turning to gold. I think the Asians have it right. I seriously doubt the U. S. budget will be in balance next year. I believe it is possible some cataclysmic event such as a blow up in the Mid-east or a move by China on Taiwan will change the markets drastically over nite. What will happen to gold then? Who knows. I hope prosperity reigns forever, but I am not betting on it to any great extent.
Best, Jim
