I obviously have not done any genetic studies, but the idea that many of the Russian, Ukrainian, Lithanian and Polish Jews are descendant of Europeans, not original biblical Jews (who like arabs have darker skin) seems intuitive, since that's what I can observe with my own eyes, when I ask my Jewish friends where they are from.

Do remember that those Eastern European Jews had been there for at least 1900 years. Naturally, they'll have lighter skin than ones spending the entire time in the Middle East.
