The hypothetical question wasn't related to the article, it was triggered by some of the chatter around the article. The specific triggers aren't important.

But it got me to do a recall. We had a previous dialogue on the subject and as I recall, we were in complete and total agreement.

In an unrelated sequence of posts, jla started off with a question of where did GW Bush make errors in his ME policy. I responded with a couple of points and he responded that one cannot blame Bush for the ME violence; though I never made that claim. [Such a shift isn't unusual for jla. It's a pretty typical tactic in fact.]

Then I referred him to some of the prior history of our relationship with Israel, including the Intelligence vessel incident and a clear reference to Pollard, and he was atypically quiet. Then I recalled that he was atypically quiet on the earlier discussion that you and I had on our dear ally in the ME.

So I did a spray test on jla yesterday which included statements from/by the Israelis that were extremely critical of the US and assigned blame and responsibility to the US, Bush and Powell of any future suicide bombings. Again, jla was atypically quiet.

I can make a couple of relatively mild criticisms of our ME policy and get blasted by jla. George Will can refer to our ME policy as incoherent and jla will merely say that George Will isn't God. But it appears that the Israelis may have a free pass with jla to do anything they want to the US and make any criticism of the US they so choose, including blaming the US, Bush, and Powell for future suicide bombings.
