LOL!
I like your sense of humor...
In the 21st Century, it's a bit more subdued, and we hope, more civilized. But how civilized is it when an all-powerful central government can confiscate 40% of your earnings, read your mail, bug your computers, and propose to hide everything presidents have done for the past 20 years? Worse, profiteers tend to promote worldwide conflict, and certainly have an appearance of a conflict of interest, whether or not hidden stories of bin Laden meetings aren confirmed. The gory war-mongering Afghani textbooks produced by the Bush-led CIA have already been reported, apparently designed to destroy an entire generation. How civilized is that? What is the purpose of that?
None of that is civilized, or defensible. It may not be shootings in the street ...
Except, we've just lost a bunch of molecular biologists who had been working on top-secret projects, an Enron fellow who know about things like offshore account partners died suspiciously, tribunals were suggested that would have authority for essentially summary executions on command of the president alone ...
The secrecy alone, is a reason to be concerned.
Once you have established walls of secrecy, shootings in the street aren't needed, since you have the means and methods just to pick people up, establish some reasons, and eliminate them physically or in other ways.
That is, simply, un-American. That is the government's insistance that the populace works for the central government, rather than the other way around. |
