One is to have a third party threaten both to the point that the two sides become allies.
Do you honestly believe that would happen no matter who threatened them how much? And what third party could do that and be willing to accept the suicide bombings that would then engulf that third party?
Or the third party could buy off the two sides by meeting their demands
You can't meet their demands. They both want the same small piece of land. If all they wanted was money, you could buy them off. But they both want the same square feet of land. And it has to be THAT land because it is holy to both of them. If we could offer to empty Southern California and give it to the Jews and give the Holy Land entirely to the Palestinians, or vice versa, that would be wonderful. But neither would accept.
or giving them a third way
What third way? Don't you think very smart people have been trying to find a third way for quite a few years?
Another is to keep the war at a low, maintenance level until such time that the two sides tire of it. That could take decades or centuries, however
Definitely. And since there are a lot more Palestinians than Israelis, and they are having children at a lot higher rate, that means that Israel is destroyed, and they know it. The demographics favor the Palestinians. So Israel won't--can't afford to--let it stay at a low, maintenance level. When they have a virtually unlimited number of suicide bombers, and nations happy to finance them, and they can get an average of 30 Jews for each suicide bomber with the newer, stronger bombs they're now using, how long will it take to effectively wipe out the Jewish nation? There are 5 million Jews in Israel. At thirty a crack, you need 166,666 suicide bombers. They've got them. And you don't have to kill every last one. Get them down to about 2 million, and you've probably functionally destroyed Israel.
One side destroying the other works, too, of course.
That seems to be the only answer that Israel can find right now that they can live with. |
