Ya you read that and it seems possible or reasonable. But I've dealt with water damage and never seen anything like that. I suspect the tightness or the lack of air exchange to be part of the problem.

I read years ago that a tight well insulated home has more air pollutants inside than the out. Simply because of the common chemicals such as cleaners and toiletries.

But this mold business has been going on for some time now and I believe it to be Farmers and one or two other insurers are not writing policies on homes with possible mold conditions here in California. In fact a couple articles I've read believe this to be very significant problem for obtaining insurance to a point of reducing liquidity in the market.

I'm not so sure the effect will be of such magnitude. In 96 I couldn't get insured for a rental I purchased from any common insurer. There was nothing remarkable about the property. I was informed they the under writers were just not accepting any like kind properties. I was forced to get commercial insurance from Lloyds of London for better than double what I had budgeted. Sense then things have loosened to were I can get insurance form several sources. I suspect there's some find print in the contracts that relieved the under writers of some responsibility and some time in the future the same will be for this mold issue.
