Urban legend.

Check this site for photo of plane debris outside the Pentagon:

snopes2.com

I saw this photo or similar photos on, or shortly after 9/11.

I viewed the actual Pentagon shortly after the event, and can confirm that the damage did, indeed, extend inside the outer rings, and saw the blackened damage from the wings on the stones on the facade. I can email you a digital photo I took, if you want.

Unlike the WTC, the Pentagon is built from steel-reinforced concrete with a stone facade. The building is massive. If you've never seen it in real life, the photos don't do the size justice. It's simply enormous. As far as I know, it is still the largest building in area in the world, and I would bet it's the most massive.

The damage directly caused by the plane looked as if someone cut a slice out of the building like cutting a slice out of a cake. Since then, much more of the building has been removed because it was structurally damaged.

If a bomb had been set off, the damage would have radiated in a circle. This was linear.

You can think of the fuel in a full Boeing 757 as similar to a bomb. The sound was heard all the way out to my part of Fairfax, maybe 15 miles away.

People on the ground saw the plane hit the building.

This whole conspiracy thing is too weird for words.

I contributed money to local businesses who were supplying the firefighters with food, water, clean underwear, clean socks, Visine, PowerBars, and dog food and doggy treats (for the K-9s). My mother carried supplies down to the volunteers. My husband works half a mile from the Pentagon. We are not stupid people. We've seen buildings blown up with dynamite.

The destruction of the Pentagon was not caused by a bomb.
