I am not the expert, but my simple view says that the key to peace and prosperity is a balanced growth in the standard of living for all peoples of the world. In the US during Reagan and Bush I the rich prospered at the expense of the lower class. During Clinton all Americans prospered and we had the greatest economic boom ever. The gap between the rich and poor widened in the 90's. The top 5% share of income rose during the 90's and stabilized at 21%. The lowest 40% share of income declined during the 90's and stabilized at 14%. As you correctly stated you are "no expert".
