Maybe you need to read some late 1930's European history. They all would quickly learn a rapproachment if one thing occured: the US saying, "hey, you all are on your own, the citizens of the US are sick of this nonsense, can't make heads nor tails of it, and think the US involvement is itself fomenting violence. Good luck, and call us for advice, we'll be happy to talk". I'd say the ARABS have had endless opportunites to peace and have refused to do so. When did Israel move in to the West Bank and Gaza? 1973. Why? The Yom Kippur War. Started by an Arab attack. The 1967 war was a bit different. Israel attacked first- -at the Arab armies massing on its borders. The Arab gov'ts had made it perfectly clear that they intended to invade and drive out or kill every Jew. The 1956 war was a joint British-French-Israeli attack. The 1948 war resulted from the Israeli declaration of statehood. Every one of its neighbors (except Lebanon) attacked. Some peaceniks, those Arab neighbors of Israel.
