I do believe that we may be nearing a bottom....or perhaps an "equilibrium". By that, I mean that revenues may stop going down and earnings may stop going down. Even though we have been seeing some earnings that beat estimates, we are still mostly seeing topline declines. That means we are not quite at the bottom. And my gut feeling is that the bottom will take some time to form. We will need to build an economic "base" (a period where topline numbers are at least flat and not still going down) and then we can build a stockmarket base from which to launch the next bull market.

This isn't one of my better organized thoughts, sorry...but the crux is that I think that we need to watch the topline numbers rather than what the analysts conjure up for earnings estimates (on pro forma numbers...LOL).

And I really have a tough time thinking long when the VIX and VXN are at these low levels and the BPs are at high levels. Just doesn't make sense to me.
