i'm going to try a mellower tone of the next few days and respond only when I believe people are drastically portraying my people as more evil and sinister than they are, or when they show murderers too much respect and admiration.

Good plan. But not easy to do. But if I might just add, remember the virtues of trying to see the world from the others' point of view.
