We saw a bunch of movies this weekend-
rented the VERY funny The Closet- Mr. X hadn't seen it. I give it 5 stars since it is the perfect comedy. Saw Spy Games- 3 stars, and The Last Castle- 1 star (or should I go negative? tough choices). Lagaan (5 stars)- a musical from India about a cricket match struck me as a sort of Indian "Fiddler on the Roof" crossed with something else. It is very long, but I loved it. And it appears the Indian cinema is very liberal and socially active, since there were positive messages about untouchables, and various religious groups getting along together- the messages were very obvious, and I thought that a very good thing- since I believe Amir Khan, who produced and stars in the movie, is one of India's biggest stars. Also saw Everybody's Famous- cute flick from Belgium, 4 stars, and High Heels and Low Lifes- 3 stars, cute but too predictable. Pandaemonium is fabulous- 5 stars, about the friendship between Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Wordsworth, it is a wee bit heavy handed about the environment, and the editing could have been better, but still, it is so much better than the normal schlock they dish out at the movies.
