An old PR. -
In October, we attended the National Association of State Controlled Substance Administrators (NASCSA), and in November we were present at the National Association of Drug Diversion Administrators (NADDI) — of which Equity Technologies is a member. At both assemblies, we made personal contact with enforcement and administrative officials in the 18 states currently monitoring scheduled prescription drugs, as well as states such as Ohio that are considering initiatives. Time and again, we heard these officials call for real-time reporting and positive patient identification — key elements of the provisional patent that covers the VPSTM System.

NADDI has invited Verified Prescription Safeguards to participate in its Spring Regional Training Programs in 2002.

Practitioners also stand to benefit substantially from the VPS System. An AA-rated insurance company has committed to provide 15%-20% discounts for medical malpractice premiums — along with broader coverage — to practices that participate in the VPS System.

Since our appearance before the Kentucky legislature’s Medicaid Managed Care Oversight Committee in September, we continue to cultivate a relationship with the Commonwealth of Kentucky to update the KASPER (“Kentucky All-Schedule Prescription Electronic Reporting”) drug diversion-monitoring program — and to provide a means to reduce Medicaid fraud. In Kentucky, alone, this could save $20-$30 million a year.
