~OT~ OldTrader: I also wish The U.S. would be more 'even-handed' with our foreign policy...I have a number of close friends who are Jewish and Arab and they almost all seem to be very frustrated with their country's recent invasion into the occupied territories...I can't believe Bush and Powell haven't successfully pressured Sharon to back off --> things are becoming very unstable in the region. I do recognize that the suicide bombings in Israel have been most tragic BUT its important to carefully consider what has caused them to happen and what's the most appropriate way to deal with them....I can promise you that there is no good military solution. Here are a few columns written on Sharon's recent actions as well as U.S. policy in The Middle East.... Message 17330195 Message 17330608 Message 17329789 BTW, I don't necessarily agree with everything written in the 3 articles I provided links to above -- they are out there to stimulate some discussion...Even though I voted for Bush I have not been very pleased with our policy in The Middle East...I do hope that Colin Powell's new diplomatic initiatives prove to be successful...the stakes are high.
