I have just read an article discussing the controversy over Bjørn Lomborg's controversial new book, "The Skeptical Environmentalist."

Thanks for the article, Bill. I've read it but have no serious way to assess it. As you might guess, we (you and I) are on opposite sides of the environmental debate. But, for me to seriously assess this book, I would have to compare his treatment with this material with the original material and that would take a great deal more time than I have right now.

You might not be surprised to learn I'm suspicious of these kinds of articles. In the past, much of this I've seen has been either ideologically driven (right wing), economically driven (paid for by the very industry groups that are the problems), or personally driven (attacks on colleagues writers have come to dislike).

My impression is that there are quite a few very selfless scientists who argue the pro environmentalist point of view. If I were to look carefully at the literature, I would start with their work.

Haven't seen too many selfless critics. Perhaps this guy is one. If so, I would certainly wish to read his work carefully.
