Until you see similar freedom in the Arab world, no matter what you, JohnM, CobaltBlue, and others say, you cannot and will not have any prospect of peace.
Hmm, if what concerns you is long range security and the freedom which comes from sustainable economic development, you and I are on the same side of this argument. If you just want a cessation of hostilities so negotiations can begin, so the preconditions for moving in the direction of the above, then "freedom" doesn't strike me as a precondition. Let's hope not, because, again I agree with you, the freedoms that are usually included in that term (political, economic, and social) are only dim lights there. |
