I know, to see a topping-out in these market conditions is pretty tough to explain. This market seems to be unstoppable. But then I look at the ratios of sales of puts to calls on the North American index options, and it sure seems like a lot of people are protecting their assets lately. Then I look at how the rate of increase of the various N. Amer. indices has been steepening and steepening over the past few years, going parabolic, and I get even more nervous.

I figure it's worth gambling a few cheap puts. (And you can guarantee that if I'm betting on a market slide, it'll take off like a rocket in the other direction. It's been that sort of year.)
