Agree that there is no evidence of Intel breaking TI's dominance in wireless DSPs. Intel are concentrating on the 3G market and I think their lack of sales is partly explained by the slowness of 3G to come around.

My reference to Ericsson was related to their infrastructure business showing no signs of a recovery, not even in the second half. Without the infrastructure being upgraded, the new hi-semi-content phones will not work.

The fact that TI does have a stranglehold means they have little room to grow unless these new technologies proliferate. With tech spending down in general, you have many other chip giants eyeing the market to soak up some of the spare capacity. TI is strong technically but noone holds No 1 spot forever.

I am not a Luddite and appreciate that one day we will see widespread use of high bandwidth phones (and useful, cost effective applications to go with them). Just not much sign of this happening soon.

The best TI can do for now, IMO, is grow with the market. The market is a saturated one and TI has high earnings and sales multiples, so I wouldn't expect much growth from the share price.
