So you think history has seen the last of the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Saddam, ..... ?
The more people advance, the less likely they are to come to the fore.
I'm sure that if it can be done, somebody will try to do it. I just can't get exercised over that possibility. First of all, we are a long, long way from being able to do it. We still haven't figured out how to clone a healthy sheep.
But more important, Mao and Saddam and their like aren't Americans. How in the world will Bush handcuffing the US on cloning prevent another Hitler? All it will do is move the activity to where it is legal, where maybe the ethics aren't so particular and controls not as strong, where others will get a leg up on us. Laz, if it can happen, it will happen, and it will happen to us rather than for us. Is that what you want? |
