Not only does Israel serve as a mirror to its neighbors' lack of democracy, technology, scientific advancement, etc., the military defeats it has given them have been swift, punishing, and decisive. In short, Israel has delivered not only psychic but physical pain to its neighbors while showing them how a desert can be made to bloom. Tough to take if all you've got to eat is pride. |
