Oil companies are totally deceptive on Anwar. Yes there's oil there but they're totally lying about what kind of damage they'd have to do to recover it. Or how much it is.

The tundra is extremely fragile. I've been there and seen. Garbage dumped 50 years ago is still in good condition because it is frozen all the time. I found jars of jelly which must have been 30 years old. We ate some of it. Orange peels many years old are still orange. Nothing bio-degrades up there so damage takes "forever" to disappear.

The oil companies lie and say they're only going to drill on a tiny portion. But they don't tell you about the roads between all those places, the animals whose life patterns they'll shatter, the oil spills which are inevitable on land and sea, and how they'll cheat because no one will be able to bust them if they do. Those roads might as well be permanent. Once tundra is stripped it takes decades to grow back. Might as well just throw the whole place away if you let those companies in there. "No footprint" my ass. Bush is such a total liar on this issue.

The fact is that since the oil company with the test well won't release its results NO ONE except them knows if it's got ten barrels of oil or ten billion. What they really want is the total opening up of Alaska and everywhere else. They hate environmental regulations of any kind and only abide by them when it affects the bottomline. "Chevron cares"? Not.

They figure if they can get into ANWAR then nobody will be able to force them to leave no matter how much they ravage the place. Those people could give a rat's ass about the environment or wild-life. To them it's just money and money only. And they don't want us to get off oil or be fuel efficient either. If you think you can trust them, just look at the 2000 energy crisis. Look at Enron. Biggest ripoffs of all time.

Yep, once they're into ANWAR and other wilderness areas they are there to stay. So say goodbye to any type of preservation for future generations. Just give them their tax-free short-term profits and F wild-life. Great idea.
Read the recent government report it took 12 years to compile which confirms the horrible damage drilling up there would do. It proves the Bush people are liars. Don't take my word for it.
