Definitely time to think about it if it's an imminent scientific reality, consider all possible eventualities at every step of the way ... and if it took a moratorium to gain time to do that, well fine ... just passing a blanket prohibition would as you point out possibly move it out of the jurisdiction, making a greater problem* .... let me guess - the political reality is a constituency holding dear the 'every sperm is sacred' doctrine, right ... and yes, elections in the fall ... a thing of such import to the species should be above that sort of stuff ... at the same time, somebody has to decide, and i'm not sure i'd turn the question over to a group of scientists even if i got to choose them ... must read up on this, but Charleymane has me focussed on Venezuela now

Oh but first, a claim to fame - i have personally packed stuff up and down stairs for Diana Krall - ca.news.yahoo.com
.. you have never heard 'Cry me a river' until you've heard her singing it

* - there is a 1920s folk song from this area, in praise of the Volstead Act, which made more than a few fortunes around here ... squeeze something in one place, it moves down the tube to another
