Ask yourself, would you want to sell health insurance to a bunch of public service employees in California? There's a reason everything costs more out there. Everyone thought I was nuts when I decided to forgo the HMO and go with a traditional prefered provider plan....HMO's are an incentive trap. I have people tell how great it is that they never pay more than $10 for a visit or a prescription, yet they pay two to three times as much for their coverage. When I point out that they are engaged in a dollar swap and pre-paying for care they would be better off without, they think I'm some sort of nut.
