At some point we must get to the foundational principles that would guide or limit activity in this area. The topic is far beyond viewing cells in a petri dish at this point.

Clone research is attractive because there are indications of beneficial applications. There are also implications that could involve enormous risk of human suffering caused by unrestricted tinkering and ego-centered development. The flesh of my flesh that would be used to heal my infirmities is a very attractive thought. What if that flesh also involves another soul? It seems that when we grow a human clone (which is definitely in the scope of this topic), this becomes an issue. We are very close to the argument of when a fetus becomes a human being and when it is simply an extension of flesh. Medical experiments on animals to advance the cosmetic technology also falls in this realm. Do you have any assurances that we are not simply taking the first step down such a path? As in the goal to"create a better race" mentioned on this thread.
