Pravin, Re: It could be that the 512KB Barton design was done in bulk so that it would be compatible with the UMC 0.13u process. I think this is the safe thing to do, in case there are problems with the SOI ramp.

And it leaves more SOI capacity for Hammer. But it also means that Barton will probably not scale any better than Thoroughbred. I hope AMD will at least finally switch to a 166 MHz FSB with Barton. This and the additional L2 cache should allow Barton to remain competitive with a Northwood (133 MHz FSB) at the equivalent model/clock-speed.
