I'm sure that the president is desperately trying not to alienate all of the Arab states, and that is understandable, though IMO non-productive. What would be much more positive for the US and for the world would be for a coherent case to be made publicly for all civilized nations to actively oppose terrorism of any kind and to espouse individual freedom for the citizens of every nation. Let each nation accept or reject that position and reap the consequences thereof.
