<<Has it occurred to you that Palestine experiences this threat from Israel? Would you tolerate a foreign power occupying the United States?>>

Good questions...Would Sharon like to be under siege and living like Arafat right now...?? Maybe they should trade places for a few days...They both are very ineffective leaders who have failed those that they represent...Yet, IMO, Sharon is absolutely crazy if he thinks it will continue to be OK to ignore the command of The President of The United States...He is embarrassing our President, antagonizing Arabs around the world (who he would like to keep calm and make peace with), and failing to act like a serious leader who is truly committed to peace. The IDF's brutal invasion of The West Bank has been TOTALLY counterprouctive...It's not just William Buckley that thinks that this is true. Prime minister Sharon is lucky I wasn't in The White House when he made his unfortunate decision to invade the occupied territories in such a brutal way. If I had made a speech calling on both Arafat AND Sharon to take certain difficult steps, I would mean it...Yet, I would follow up and call both parties personally and give some ultimatums...I would have told Sharon that if his IDF forces were not COMPLETELY withdrawn from ALL occupied territories within 24 hours then I would move ahead to take steps to cut off financial support to Israel. You have to play hardball with folks like Sharon (and Arafat) and IMO The United States has failed to do that.

I want peace for the entire Middle East region as much as anyone else...I believe that George Bush wants it too -- Yet, I don't feel he is ready to expend the politcal capital to make tough decisions that may in the best interest of ALL stakeholders. Bush should stop worrying about interest groups and upcoming elections and start worrying more about doing 'the right thing'...JMHO.
