hehehe.. Dang- I thought I was going to get blasted for mentioning that about the split..

Jane mentioned a bit earlier when I was going back and forth with her old tokyo joe thread pal, and she mentioned that she would never moderate a thread and she mentioned Pink Floyd as being one of the most "free spirited bands of all time.. "

That struck me pretty hard because personally? I think thats 100% untrue.. and its very unfortunate and evident if you compare the two shows.. The new floyd shows are filled with tons of floating animals and cheering crowds who cant get enough as the remaining members try desperately to duplicate what they felt was 'floyd'.. but if you go to a Waters show? There is a noticeable difference.. Very honest, sincere performance.. Less bells and whistles and more substance.. What killed me was when Waters did his Radio Kaos tour- he had a Californian DJ (Jim Ladd) announce most of his songs as if they were being played live on Radio, and he made it a point to say 'heres another song written entirely by Roger Waters' : )

AS a guitar player myself, I simply LOVE Gilmours playing.. hes by far one of the best in my opinion.. but Roger put it best when he was asked what he thought of the new Momentary lapse of reason.. Something to the effect of 'Well, sure- it was a GREAT album.. but IM deeply satisfied to see that it took dozens of writers to duplicate my style'

Heck- its all up to the listener I imagin.. but it just strikes me as such a waste for someone to light up a joint, put on Wish You Were Here, and not really feel the pain that went behind producing that album.. If you notice, most folks who claim to be Floyd nuts wont even mention Animals are the Final Cut..

And of course there was the incident where Roger Waters 'Snapped' and spit on the fans during the animals tour.. His reasoning was that they were selling out stadiums, and not a soul had a clue what it was they were going to see..

: )
