Well, may as well post the news here as well:
19:09 ET   Hitachi/IBM strategic storage alliance Hitachi, Ltd. (HIT) and IBM Corp. (IBM) to form multi-year strategic alliance to research and develop new open standards-based technologies for next-generation storage networks, systems and solutions.

Separately, companies intend to combine various hard-disk drive operations into new joint venture company. Upon completion, Hitachi expected to hold 70% of joint venture and make a payment to IBM for its hard-disk drive assets.

What was your response? I can't say I like the idea of Hitachi selling drives any more than IBM. Why on earth they would want to get into another commodity business is beyond me.
