though I think that the cable companies will win in the long term, one of their main problems is that they "think" like cable companies rather than telcos. The important part of the thinking is that telcos have reliability and availability of their service ingrained in their collective brains. Of course, as my recent experience with Pacbell proves, just because it is telco, doesn't mean that your customer support isn't going to suck.
