Indeed, I remember the Larry Niven's corpsicles. But I didn't just meet the people whose heads might someday be frozen...I met the head head freezer. She cools the very recently temporarily-deceased to about 10C. Then she carefully cuts off their heads. The severed head is then perfused with a solvent more gentle than water, and then cooled to 77K for long-term storage. Speaking of long-term.... I just got back from the Link Wray show at the Usual in San Jose. I want to be a Rock Star when I grow up. He had a lovely younger woman (perhaps 45) who propped him up on his stool, held his beer to lips....she did EVERYTHING for him so he could concentrate 100% of his energy on playing guitar. And he can play the guitar....best punk/surf/metal guitar show i've seen in a while...and the guy is older than the three surf punks backing him up...put together. Wish I could throw in some sound bytes right here...What can I say, the man is an awesome guitarist...mostly unknown, but he does a great rock and roll show. He played for about two hours nonstop...And I mean nonstop. He took about a two second break to switch guitars when he broke a couple of strings...but he didn't miss any notes. -zm
