Albert, expand your horizons.......the Christian Science Monitor is an excellent small journal published by the Christian Science church.
I wonder what opinion do you have about this church?
Tim, unlike TGPTNDR, I actually have had an okay opinion of the church. I have some friends who are Christian Scientists and from knowing them, I realized that my own personal belief system is similar to the one developed by the Church's founder, Mrs. Eddy.
Unfortunately, I think the church, like any other church, has some fringe members, who from time to time, get the church bad publicity by not seeking medical help for their children which has resulted in the death of those children. But if I were to join a church, it would probably be them or an Episcopalian church.
In general if a church owns a newspaper would your opinion of the paper be effected by your opinion of the church?
It depends if the paper reflects the bias of the church or not. I like a newspaper to be as free of bias as possible and simply, present the facts. In the case of the CSM, it does not reflect a church bias IMO. BTW, I read and liked the paper long before I knew about the church.
