I agree with the part of the parental responsibility. I'm in the fortunate position of early retirement, so I'm able to assist with homework when needed. I'd prefer to spend my 'educational' time with my kids teaching them the skills necessary to become successful. How to use reference materials, how to reach logical conclusions, how to understand history instead of memorizing it, etc.

We just seem to differ on the content of the education, but agree on the need for parental involvement. Btw: I know it wasn't that way when I grew up. Parents were barely involved in our schooling, except the 'room mothers' who would help with parties.
