If Intel needs the extra fab space solely because of poor yields on .13 um or because of big die theory, the extra costs could kill Intc. margins.

Intel's gross margins expanded to 53% in Q1 2002 - over and above the 51% gross margins of Q4 2001.
Intel predicted 53% gross margins (+/- the usual point or 2) for all of 2002.

Looks like Intel's capital expenditures are producing the desired results - higher priced/higher performance CPUs at lower costs.
