Re: "You are the one who so bitterly hates our corporations and our suburban middle class."
What I find offensive is the prevailing philosophy of a growing number of U.S. corporations that "only profits matter; people don't." As far as my "bitter hatred" of "the suburban mentality" ... I would argue "hate" is too strong a word. I have little use for suburban residents who think that because they live in the 'burbs, then the cities can go to hell. What these folks don't realize is that as the urban core goes, so goes the entire metro area.
Re: "You don't think the average joe can make it without unions, and I know that he/she can."
Another example of GOP sound-good babble. What do you do for a living? Unions didn't evolve in the United States in a vacuum. Or to put it another way, every company has the union it deserves. Been there, done it, chump. You haven't.
Re: "The gov't has plenty of tax money to carry out their duties, which I have said many times."
Thanks to the cut-taxes-and-spend-more GOP administration in Washington, D.C., large-level deficit spending has once again reared its ugly head. Specifically, where would you cut spending to achieve a balanced budget, as we had under the Clinton presidency?
Re: "The main reason I don't like unions is that they teach the "victim" type of thinking that you so strongly embrace."
I don't think you know squat about unions, or how varied they are today. Sorry, you don't impress me as someone who knows much more than what the Republicans spoon-feed you.
Re: The bottom 50% of U.S. residents only pay 4% of Federal taxes. How much lower can it go? And the top 50% can afford it, right?
Rich people should pay more taxes than poor people. I also believe that every business should pay its "fair share." That's a crazy concept, isn't it? |
