PR Newswire - July 10, 1997 07:37
CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Nabisco, Inc. (NYSE: NA) awarded Alydaar Software Corporation (OTC-Bulletin Board: ALYD) a contract for Year 2000 remediation services. The contract calls for Alydaar to remediate several million lines of Nabisco's code utilizing its SmartCode(TM) reengineering technology to make the programs Year 2000 compliant. The Year 2000 problem arises from computer programs written in the 1970s and 1980s that read only the last two digits in a year. The 00 reading for 2000 would cause an error in some programs or could be interpreted as 1900. The estimated world-wide market to repair the Year 2000 problem is estimated to be in excess of $600 billion. Robert Gruder, Alydaar's CEO, stated, "The Year 2000 team at Nabisco has a solid understanding of what is required to make its systems Year 2000 compliant and I am glad that they have chosen Alydaar to assist them with this significant effort." Dave Gille, Manager for Nabisco's Sales and Integrated Logistics I/S Year 2000 project, stated: "There is no silver bullet for the Year 2000, but we believe the Alydaar solution will enable our team to achieve our Year 2000 objective." Alydaar Software Corporation is a software reengineering company, specializing in providing services to resolve the Year 2000 problem, as well as computer language translation and systems migration services. Using SmartCode(TM), their core reengineering technology, Alydaar can automatically correct millions of lines of code per month at their Charlotte, NC code remediation factory. Alydaar has offices throughout North America and Europe. Nabisco, Inc., through its subsidiaries, is engaged in the packaged food business. The Company's products include: cookies, crackers, sauces, condiments, nuts, candy and gum.
