The price of liberty is vigilence, even economic liberty and that means
having someone checking that the transactions are indeed what they seem.


The enternal vilgilence that is needed is mainly against the encroachment of liberty by the government.

When regulation is starved of funds and personel

Regulatory agencies budgets have grown enormously over the years.

when junk requirements are added to keep the regulators too busy to check for
real violations, then another common resource is being destroyed. That is the public trust.


I might agree with you on that. It depends on what you mean. If you mean that a bunch of stupid regulations can take up resources that could be better used enforcing important and well thought out regulations then I agree.

We might be able to examine the topic better if we get more specific. What sort of new regulations do you think should be passed?
