I had a feeling that's where you were going, which was why I asked.

I think it's pretty typical for each generation to feel as though the following generation has lost the ideals and strictures with which they were raised.

I do agree with Steve on this point:
I think a big part of the problem lies with spoiled parents who have been raised to believe that they can "have it all", and that raising children need not involve personal or professional sacrifice.

But I believe that in general young human beings have the intelligence and adaptive capabilities (even the adaptive imperative) to continue to evolve.

That said, this Supreme Court decision today has me worried about our protecting he rights of children. IMO, they're a special case, a separate class, and should be accorded clear rights by the government.
