I don't see how you can say that a disease where fewer than half the infections stem from homosexual sex is a gay problem.
I realize you can't see that. If a 5% minority was causing 50% of the nation's crime, I wonder if you would see a problem with that minority. Perhaps not given that it is a minority group. (BTW, I have been stringing along with the 50% figure from the web site you posted, as a courtesy, but other reputable sources claim a considerably higher percentage).
The regulars on this thread will never concede that there is any problem with gay behavior. It wouldn't matter what the statistics show, it wouldn't matter what they have seen with their own eyes, or experienced in their lives. It is simply a matter that requires denial at all costs. It doesn't matter how bizarre the denial is. A statement such as, "Heterosexual males would be just as promiscuous as gay males, given the opportunity" works just fine. If it doesn't, the discussion can be moved from America to Africa. And there is the always the old favorite of the "homophobic" label as a coup de grace.
On the other hand, the regulars have no problem in believing every allegation that is made against the Catholic Church. Proof is not required. Trials are not necessary. Due process doesn't apply. Who needs statistics. Every complainant is telling the truth. It is a given that the Church is a corrupt institution. Cardinal Law is guilty and should be forced to resign. The Pope must go. Nothing more needs to be heard.
Oh, there is one thing not to be believed about the Church. That is, that the gayness of the priesthood had anything to do with any of it. Priests assaulted boys because they were frustrated with their celibacy, not because they were gay. Or maybe because boys were more available. Or maybe because boys wouldn't tell. Anyway, it had nothing to do with gayness.
Ah, this thread is truly the land of the open mind. |
